The Art and Spirit of Drumming
Drumsong is the exploration of rhythmic resonance. A fun and empowering
exploration of the art and sprit of drumming that fosters individual
ability and authentic self-expression.
A pathway to connect with the power of ones inner rhythm. Learn complete drum songs
rooted in various cultural and contemporary rhythmic styles and patterns.
We will focus on developing and improving playing techniques
for tonal definition and clarity. Develop rhythmic ability
for community drumming circles.
Explore the
foundation of the universal language of drumming, rhythm and pulse, time and tone. Focus will also be
on breathing, playing posture, concentration, physical dexterity,
and warm-up exercises.
We will experience
the spirit of drumming, the unifying,
energizing, and revitalizing effects of individual and group/ensemble
playing, improvising, and singing.
We will also explore topics such as drum etiquette, acquiring a drum,
care of your hands, drum maintenance, and drum tuning. All hand
drums and percussion welcome. Geared to beginners-intermediate. Please bring a tape recorder and tapes. Participants

An experiential
intensive journey that explores
the impact and relationship of the of sound frequencies on our energetic
states of well-being and growth. We will deepen our awareness
and knowledge of the transformative qualities of intentional drumming
and chanting/ singing and sounding.
Experience playing in odd time rhythmic
forms.
Explore deep
listening, overtones, harmonics, and un-struck sound. We will
explore ways to integrate the drum, rattles, and other sounding
forms for transformative healing of ones self, clients and community. We will explore
different vibrational healing modalities through the times.
We will learn ways to raise, hold and direct sound frequencies
to revitalize and inspire health and balance of ones whole being.
We will also
explore topics such as the principals of vibrational healing, intuitive
drumming/sounding and the relationship
of sound and vibration to the natural world. All drums, rattles,
singing bowls, and melodic instruments are welcome. The intensive is geared to beginner/intermediate.

with the power of ones inner sense of rhythm.
Explore ancient
and contemporary female-centered drumming traditions of various cultures and traditions. Experience our
ancestral connections and relationship to rhythm and pulse through, intuitive drumming,
story telling, chanting, and drum songs created/played by women.
Learn complete
drum songs influenced by different
cultures including contemporary rhythmic styles and patterns.
We will focus on developing and improving playing techniques and
tonal clarity Develop rhythmic vocabulary for various intentional drum circles.
Together we will experience the unifying and revitalizing effects
of group playing, intuitive drumming, singing, toning, and movement.
Learn drum
songs and rhythms to bring to your community. We will also explore topics such as a women's drumming
traditions in United State with global, connections, vibrational healing,
multi-cultural drumming, drum etiquette. All levels and rhythmic
instruments are welcome. Please bring a tape recorder and tapes. Participants

Beyond Beginners
The Art of Improvising
and Composition
An introduction
to the compositional process of creating original drum songs.
An experiential clinic on the development of creating dynamic drum
songs for performance, recording, and community sharing.
We will explore rhythmic vocabulary,
improvising, resonance, musical
elements, dynamics, lyrics, time, song structure, texture, and presentation.
We will explore the realm of creating compositions
that intend to create specific sensory environments for the listener, incorporating vocals, and various percussive
and melodic instruments.
Participants are invited to bring a
rhythm song they are already working
on for further development. Participants will create and
compose original drum songs.
All percussive and melodic instruments
are welcomed. Please bring a tape recorder and tapes.
This workshop is not for the beginner drummer/musician. Intensive
may include a concert by Ubaka Hill. Participants must
provide their own Instruments.

Contract Agreement between Producer and Ubaka will be provided by Producer or Ubaka upon confirmation of booking date and fee agreement.
Other points for consideration:
- Producer provides direct contact and registration information for participants, i.e. email, phone, mailing address
- Participants must supply their own drums and instruments. All hand drums are welcome.
- Drumsong workshop participants are invited to perform with Ubaka
as part of her concert (when booked) as

- Producer can determine if workshops are for women only or for women
and men.
- Concerts are open to all unless Producer determines otherwise.
